Server - New South Kitchen

About the role

The Server at New South Kitchen will provide prompt, courteous table service with genuine care, ensuring guests have an exceptional dining experience in a high-volume, luxury hotel environment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate full familiarity with menus, beverage offerings, and daily specials.
• Greet guests warmly upon arrival and take orders while answering questions and offering suggestions.
• Communicate meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the culinary team.
• Record transactions in the MICROS system and adhere to cash handling standards.
• Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each course and beverage.
• Present accurate checks, process payments, and maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift.
• Set up and break down service stations, complete side work duties, and ensure tables are properly set.
• Adhere to Omni Moments of Service Standards, using guests’ surnames when possible.
• Clean, clear, and reset service areas while protecting the hotel from liability regarding overserving guests.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the restaurant manager.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of serving experience; high-volume sports/live entertainment bar experience preferred.
• Unexpired Food Handlers and TIPS Alcohol certifications required by start date.
• Developed knowledge of wine, spirits, and beer, with experience selling and presenting specialty cocktails.
• Previous cash handling experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English with guests, management, and co-workers.
• Ability to input information accurately and efficiently into MICROS.
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and maintain a welcoming demeanor.
• Ability to work cohesively with co-workers across departments.
• Strong prioritization, organization, and follow-up skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent customer service, service recovery, and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Frequent bending, reaching overhead, twisting, and consistent use of hands and arms required.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods or an entire work shift.
