Role Description

UST is seeking a Server Lab Technician Assistant II - Lab Support to work with engineers across firmware, hardware, and systems teams to debug and resolve platform issues. The position involves assembling, configuring, and testing server hardware platforms for bring-up, installing and configuring operating systems (Linux, Windows, VMware) and drivers, performing BIOS, CPLD, FW, VR, and BMC installation/flashing, connecting systems to network environments, receiving and investigating hardware/software issues, developing and implementing debug tools and procedures, performing root cause analysis, maintaining detailed documentation, training and mentoring new engineers, and supporting customers by troubleshooting and resolving platform-level issues.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, and firmware
  • Hands-on experience with Linux, Windows, and VMware OS installation and driver configuration
  • Proficiency in firmware/BIOS/BMC flashing and debug workflows
  • Experience with debugging tools, triage techniques, and system validation practices
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently in high-pressure environments while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to quickly learn new technologies

Work Environment

Work may be performed in a high-noise environment; noise-cancelling equipment may be required. This role will require 18/7 support model, which may require to work in different shifts and weekends (40 Hrs / week).

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

  • California: $38,000-$57,000

Benefits include:

  • Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty.
  • Eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching.
  • Eligible to participate in the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits.
  • Part-time employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) program with employer matching.
  • Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) program with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines.

Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
