About the Role

Under general direction from the Restaurant Services Supervisor, you will be responsible for obtaining guest orders, executing responsible service of alcoholic beverages, delivering food, drinks, and merchandise to guests while serving them in an efficient and pleasant manner. You will accurately execute guest transactions, including entering orders, tabulating bills, and receiving guest payment.

Responsibilities

  • Promote positive customer relations, greet customers, and create a friendly atmosphere.
  • Take and document orders for drinks, reciting selection of all call and premium brands from memory; take orders promptly and courteously.
  • Inspect menus and special cards daily to ensure they are presented to guests.
  • Prepare all food and beverage items using prep sheets and standard ingredient recipes.
  • Prepare and serve cocktails and other beverages accurately and without waste according to customer specifications and ABC requirements.
  • Input orders at the point of sale; create checks for each customer/party/server; maintain accountability of all beverages served.
  • Prepare and display all food and merchandise in accordance with ServeSafe and other regulatory standards.
  • Present accurate checks to guests in a timely fashion; thank patrons and invite them to return.
  • Clean up after customers at the bar and maintain an orderly and clean work area at all times.
  • Maintain proper and adequate bar set-up; wash glassware and utensils after each use.
  • Serve food to customers seated at the bar as requested.
  • Check identification to ensure customers meet age requirements for alcohol purchase.
  • Provide safe and responsible alcohol service by monitoring customer alcohol consumption.
  • Ensure display cases and refrigerators are clean and stocked throughout the shift.
  • Maintain an organized work area for guest interaction and safety.
  • Maintain inventory, supplies, and prepare food based on business volumes as directed by supervisors using par levels.
  • Utilize the Point of Sale (POS) system effectively.
  • Adhere to cash-handling practices in line with casino-wide and Food & Beverage policies and procedures.
  • Count cash, separate charge slips, and input cash tips into tip pouches immediately.
  • Ensure dining area tables are cleaned and maintained properly throughout the shift.
  • Clean shelves, counters, and windows.
  • Respond to customer questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
  • Balance house bank at the beginning and end of each shift to safeguard casino monies.
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to create attractive displays.
  • Properly bag or package purchases for guests.
  • Know the proper order-taking sequence and service standards.
  • Greet and take food and drink orders from customers.
  • Serve food orders accurately, promptly, and professionally.
  • Remain attentive to customers throughout their dining experience, adhering to or exceeding customer service standards.
  • Memorize menu items, recipes, and daily specials to answer questions and make recommendations.
  • Maintain cleanliness standards in the restaurant, wait station, and kitchen service area; adhere to company, state, and local health board requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of and answer guest questions regarding all food venues, beverage service, and casino-related information.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Follow guidelines regarding alcohol service, safety, and customer service according to established regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Contribute to a team effort and accomplish related results as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (may be waived by Human Resources Management).
  • Minimum of two (2) years working in the food and beverage and/or hospitality industry.
  • One (1) year of bartending work (may be waived by hiring manager).
  • Must obtain an ABC certificate of safe alcohol server training as required.
  • Required to have and obtain Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a gaming license.

Skills

  • Knowledge of restaurant operations and food service principles.
  • Knowledge of bartending, bar maintenance operations, and customer service.
  • Knowledge of all bar items and liquors.
  • Knowledge of POS systems.
  • Knowledge of basic math and arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of all menu items, including entrees, side dishes, beverages, non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, wine, and desserts.
  • Knowledge of proper hand and tray service.
  • Skill in interpersonal and customer relations.
  • Ability to create a friendly atmosphere and demonstrate excellent customer service.
  • Ability to operate a cash register.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods, walk, and sit.
  • Use hands for dexterity of motion; stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must have normal auditory, visual acuity, and verbal communication skills.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Work is generally performed both indoors and outdoors with frequent public contact.
  • Exposure to second-hand smoke, moderate/high noise levels, dirt, dust, and unpleasant odors.
  • Work may be performed in areas that are unusually hot, cold, noisy, smoky, and dimly lit.
  • Maneuver outside in temperatures exceeding 115°F and as cold as 15°F (exposed to all weather conditions).
  • Prolonged sitting, walking, or extended work hours, including swing shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends may be required.
