Server- Block T Bar & Grill

About the role

The Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center, managed by Pyramid Global Hospitality, is seeking a Server to join our dynamic team. Located in College Station, Texas, this property offers 250 guest rooms, 23 flexible meeting rooms, and 35,000 sq ft of meeting space.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests as they are seated at the table
• Ensure the table is clean and provide necessary items
• Distribute menus and present daily specials
• Answer questions regarding the menu
• Take food and beverage orders and deliver them to the kitchen
• Deliver food, beverages, condiments, and other requested items to guests
• Ensure food is prepared correctly and to guests' satisfaction
• Collect plates and clear the table as guests finish their meals
• Prepare guests' checks and collect payments
• Aid with other restaurant tasks such as cleaning the dining area and preparing silverware and condiments

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Well-organized with the ability to take and place food and beverage orders accurately
• Working knowledge of liquor, beer, wine, and food served at the property
• Competent in suggesting pairings of food to wine or beer
• Ability to operate point-of-sale systems
• At least 18 years old
• Previous experience as a server preferred (2+ years)
• Must obtain the Texas food handling certification and TABC certification
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking
• Must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds
• Familiarity with all property amenities and other outlets in the hotel

Qualifications

Pay

$3.60/hr. + tips (biweekly)

Schedule

The hospitality industry is 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days of the year. All candidates must be available and are expected to work Texas A&M football game days, Ring Days, graduations, and other high occupancy times due to special events. We strive hard to manage and minimize overtime, but it should and will be expected when business levels call for it. Part-time: 8-29 hours per week depending on level of business forecasted. Days of week/weekend scheduled will vary depending on level of business forecasted. Shift options: Varies based on forecasted business demands.
