About the role
The Server is a key member of our assisted living facility's dining team, responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage service to our residents in a warm and welcoming manner. This PRN (as needed) position ensures a positive dining experience by assisting with meal service, addressing resident needs, and maintaining a clean and organized dining area. The Server reports to the Culinary Director.
Responsibilities
- Greet residents as they are seated at the table; ensure the table is clean and that utensils, napkins, and other needs have been provided.
- Distribute menus and present the daily specials; answer questions regarding the menu.
- Take orders and serve meals and beverages according to residents' preferences and dietary requirements.
- Deliver food and beverage orders to the kitchen and ensure food is prepared correctly and to residents’ satisfaction; return incorrect or improperly cooked orders to the kitchen.
- Collect plates and clear the table as residents finish their meals.
- Assist with other dining tasks such as cleaning the dining area and preparing silverware and condiments.
- Maintain a steady supply of clean dishes and equipment during meal service.
- Support kitchen cleanup by removing trash, sweeping, mopping, and maintaining overall cleanliness as needed.
- Deliver food, beverages, condiments, and other requested items to residents.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Health screening, TB clearance, and criminal record clearance required.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
- Previous experience as a server preferred.
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Well-organized with the ability to take and place food and beverage orders accurately.
- Ability to operate point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to interact compassionately with seniors and accommodate their unique needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry trays, and move comfortably in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds.
Pay
$17.00 to $19.50 per hour, depending on experience.
