Position Responsibilities
- Provided guest service to restaurant guests.
- Greeting guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promoting and documenting orders for drinks.
- Protecting establishments and guests following sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
- Helping guests select food and beverages by presenting the menu, offering cocktails and aperitifs, suggesting courses, explaining the chef's specialties, identifying appropriate wines, and answering food preparation questions.
- Transmitting orders to the bar and kitchen by recording guests' choices and identifying their special dietary needs and requests.
- Maintaining the table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and being alert to guest spills or other special needs.
- Concluding dining experience by acknowledging the choice of restaurant and inviting guests to return.
- Maintaining sanitation and cleanliness per Amaterra and Oregon state health guidelines.
- Serving as liaison with the front desk and restaurant managers regarding guests’ needs and comments.
- Receiving cash from guests, making changes needed, verifying the validity of charges, recording charges, and ensuring vouchers are properly executed to balance all money.
- Performing general cleaning tasks using standard cleaning products as assigned by the supervisor to adhere to health standards.
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as requested, e.g., special guest requests.
Requirements
- Minimum two-year-related server experience working in an upscale restaurant setting or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations, including responding promptly to customer needs and requests for service and assistance.
- Knowledge of and ability to appropriately interpret and follow policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of and ability to adhere to safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
- Ability to meet the demands of the work schedule and be at work and on time. This may occasionally require working outside of regularly scheduled hours.
- Schedules may vary based on business needs.
- Previous experience serving guests in a wine-tasting restaurant is preferred.
- A current ServSafe or Food Handler certification and an OLCC permit are required.
- Alcohol Awareness Certification (must comply with State regulations).
