Sergeant - Prisma (#017146) Hospital Security Team, Columbia (RICHLAND)
Job Responsibilities
Monitor, supervise and direct subordinate staff to ensure proper security, safety and control of all inmates at Palmetto Health Richland Medical Center.
Ensure proper security staffing for inmate supervision as per SCDC and PHR policies and procedures.
Evaluate officer's duty performance; instruct/counsel as needed.
Make security, safety and sanitation inspections of all PHR buildings, grounds, and SCDC vehicles and correct or report shortcomings/deficiencies.
Arbitrate inmate disputes, investigate complaints and refer to appropriate staff members as required.
Supervise and verify accuracy of scheduled formal counts and make informal counts when required.
Carry out inventories and inspections of all weapons, restraints, security equipment and keys to ensure proper function/accountability.
Assist in special investigations and make recommendations to supervisor.
Requirements
Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma and relevant experience.
- A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
- A high school diploma and two years experience in correctional, security, military, or police work, one (1) year of which must be in a medium/maximum setting.
- Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
