Sergeant - Prisma (#013414) Hospital Security Team, Columbia (RICHLAND)

About the Role

Under general supervision of the hospital lieutenant, this position is responsible for the overall supervision of subordinate security staff assigned to MUSC Chester hospital and for the supervision, custody, and control of all inmates assigned to the hospital. The role assumes primary responsibility for the security of all hospital staff and property.

Responsibilities

• Make routine checks of all rooms housing inmates to ensure subordinate staff are performing their duties properly and safely.
• Assist with all inmates being admitted into the hospital.
• Investigate complaints, violations, and arbitrate disputes among inmates, correctional staff, and hospital personnel.
• Successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Two years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work, with at least one year in a medium/maximum setting.
• Certification by the SCDC Training Academy.
• Successful completion of the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.

A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
