Sergeant MRCC
About the role
The Missouri River Correctional Center (MRCC) is hiring a Sergeant to provide frontline leadership, support staff development, and help maintain safe and effective facility operations. This position works four 10-hour shifts on a rotating schedule.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and supervision to Correctional Officers and trainees.
- Coach and develop staff, reinforce expectations, and support consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Help maintain safety, security, and orderly facility operations by ensuring resident compliance with rules, policies, procedures, and unit expectations.
- Respond to complex situations and provide crisis intervention to help resolve problems and maintain safety.
- Maintain specialized training or certifications when required for assigned duties.
Requirements
- You must have a high school diploma or GED and meet one of the following experience combinations:
- Three years of work experience in corrections; or
- One year of work experience in corrections plus two years of qualifying experience in law enforcement, security, related military service, or applicable college-level coursework.
- A minimum of one year of corrections experience is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated leadership, supervisory, staff development, or training experience. Additional consideration may be given for specialized corrections training or experience taking on advanced responsibilities, such as serving on a special operations or response team, working as an instructor or field training officer, leading projects or initiatives, or performing other advanced assignments.
