Responsibilities
- Review sepsis cases and follow up.
- Track and trend opportunities and facilitate multidisciplinary improvements.
- Manage clinical content mapping, data verification, data analysis, data management and data abstraction in assigned area of the Quality Services Department.
- Collect and report regulatory data.
- Train and coach departmental staff on quality processes and initiatives.
- Generate various reports associated with quality improvement processes in the department regarding quality outcomes, accomplishments, and goals.
- Prepare reports and present to department administrators, various committees, and outside organizations.
Qualifications
- Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of North Carolina or one of compact states.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Two (2) years of acute care clinical experience.
- Experience working an electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR) tool.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
- Recent experience in healthcare setting using performance improvement methodology with successful and actionable outcomes.
- Knowledge of audit/study methodology and health statistics applicable to performance improvement.
- Knowledge of concurrent and retrospective chart review.
- Proficiency in electronic records navigation and information retrieval.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise to effectively facilitate evaluation of quality care.
- Provides necessary education and training to department staff, medical staff, and hospital staff as needed to ensure best practices are implemented, variances reduced, and clinical outcomes measured and improved.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, organize, facilitate, and lead special projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, hospital staff, and external organizations.
- Establishes and maintains effective work practices; maintains high level of professional demeanor, competence, knowledge, integrity, and confidentiality; models the mission and vision of the organization in daily interactions and other related professional activities.
- Supports serious safety event investigations, chart review, and process flow diagramming as directed.
- PREFERRED: Certified Professional Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS).
- FIVE (5) or more years of progressive experience in an acute patient care setting (preferred).
- Experience working in EPIC.
- Experience in Emergency Services or Critical Care.
- Progressive knowledge of regulatory, State, Federal laws regarding Quality Management; participates in regulatory, State and Federal surveys and internal survey processes for using continuous readiness methodology.
- Advanced skills in data management as well as the ability to collect, analyze, and present data to groups and individuals.
