About the Role
The Content Strategist is a crucial, client-facing role responsible for day-to-day client deliverables, creating and managing custom client strategies, and communicating with both clients and internal stakeholders. The Strategist manages more Enterprise clients and is expected to have a deep understanding of their service line and its impact on other business areas to create a holistic marketing strategy.
Please note: internally, this role is titled Account Strategist, Content & SEO.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Excellence and Best Practices:
- Create custom strategies and implement best practices to achieve client NSMs (North Star Metrics).
- Use project phases, client marketing goals, ongoing campaigns, and historical performance to optimize and revise strategies while adhering to Directive best practices.
- Collaborate with the Associate Director (AsD) to address roadblocks impacting strategy and goal attainment.
- Craft creative briefs and compelling content campaigns focused on ideation based on competitor and audience insights.
- Apply best practices to ensure clients exceed their goals, including:
- LTV:CAC modeling
- Customer Generation
- Share of SERP
- Content Production
- Goal Setting:
- Use data from Google Analytics, CRM data, SEMRush, and Ahrefs to set client goals during their engagement.
- Review and approve goals with the Associate Director (AsD) before presenting them to the client.
- Project Management:
- Ensure planned strategies are executed by managing tasks in Asana.
- Delegate tasks to team members (e.g., Specialists) and clients, ensuring timely completion.
- Partner with Project Managers (where available) to ensure tasks are created, assigned, and deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with content writers and designers to complete campaigns on time and to client standards.
- Internal and External Communication:
- Serve as the main interface between clients and the Directive team, building relationships beyond deliverables.
- Proactively communicate with clients and internal leadership to drive results, including:
- Timeline expectations for deliverables
- Goal attainment progress
- Regular updates via shared channels (e.g., Slack)
- Communicate roadblocks, growth opportunities, and account changes (e.g., strategy shifts, client marketing changes, or point-of-contact updates) to internal leadership.
- Reporting:
- Report client progress and strategy impact on the following cadence:
- Bi-weekly meetings with clients (NSM progress and ongoing deliverables)
- Monthly reports
- Quarterly reports
- 2 Bi-Annual business review presentations

- Upsells / Cross-sells / Referrals:
- Identify opportunities for client growth, such as:
- Expanding into new service lines (e.g., SEO or Paid Media)
- Increasing budgets within current service lines (e.g., content, SEO, or Paid Media)
- Request referrals at key moments, such as:
- When a point of contact starts a new job
- After receiving a 5 CSAT score

Requirements
- Proven track record of success in implementing SEO principles and content strategy, including:
- Keyword research
- On-page optimization
- Link building
- Analytical insight: ability to analyze website traffic and SEO metrics using tools like Google Analytics.
- Strong communication skills: comfortable client-facing and owning relationships with key stakeholders.
- Familiarity with industry tools such as:
- Google Search Console
- Google Analytics
- SEMRush
- Ahrefs
- Screaming Frog/crawling tools
- Proven organizational, project, and time management skills.
- Genuine enthusiasm for digital marketing, SEO, and content.
- Must have agency experience.
- Must have B2B tech and/or SaaS experience.
- Driven to stay ahead of industry trends, including actively learning how AI and automation can enhance marketing and operations.

Pay
Compensation for this role includes a competitive base salary in the $75,000–95,000 USD range, commensurate with experience and geography.
