SEO & AI Search Specialist
This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week at the Cottonwood Heights office in Salt Lake City. Work sponsorship (OPT, H-1B, etc.) is not available for this position.
About the role
The Specialist, SEO & AI Search is a flexible, cross-functional member of the SEO & AI Search team who supports the Content, Local, and Technical SEO specialists and the SEO Project Manager wherever the team needs added capacity. Rather than owning a single discipline, this role works across traditional and AI-powered search initiatives, helping the team execute projects, maintain quality, and keep work moving with internal teams and agency partners. This position is ideal for an early-career SEO professional who is organized, curious, and eager to build a well-rounded foundation across all areas of SEO and AI search.
Responsibilities
- Cross-Team Support: Provides flexible support to the Content, Local, and Technical SEO specialists and the SEO Project Manager, shifting focus based on team priorities, project deadlines, and coverage needs.
- Content SEO: Performs keyword and search intent research; drafts content briefs, metadata, and FAQ ideas; and helps identify and optimize low-performing content. Reviews draft and published pages in the CMS (Contentful) for on-page best practices, internal linking, and adherence to brand guidelines.
- Local SEO: Supports Google Business Profile onboarding and offboarding during store transitions, partnering with the Transitions team to ensure stores are live and accurate from day one. Audits local listings for accuracy and NAP consistency, resolves duplicate or closed listings, and monitors reviews and profile issues.
- Technical SEO: Runs recurring site crawls and technical audits (metadata, schema, canonicalization, redirects, error pages, indexation) and documents findings with recommended actions. Assists with the submission and testing of Web Development user stories and validates releases such as redirects and structured data after launch.
- AI Search: Monitors and reports on brand visibility and citation frequency across AI-powered search platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Copilot) to track share of voice against competitors. Helps audit and optimize web pages for machine readability and answer-ability by generative engines, including structured data, content clarity, and entity signals.
- Project Coordination: Maintains project trackers, approval logs, and content calendars (e.g., Airtable, Jira) and follows up on open items with agency partners and internal stakeholders.
- Reporting & Analytics: Pulls data from Google Search Console, Google/Adobe Analytics, and SEO platforms to support dashboards, recurring performance reports, and quarterly competitor analyses.
- Collaboration: Partners with Web Development, Operations, Content, and other marketing teams on cross-department initiatives and helps answer SEO-related questions from the field.
- Stays current on search engine and AI search developments, tests new tools and tactics, and shares learnings with the team.
