SEO Account Director
About the role
This role serves as the strategic lead and primary SEO authority for a portfolio of enterprise and large-scale client accounts. The ideal candidate will bring deep enterprise SEO expertise, strong business acumen, and the ability to translate search data into actionable growth strategies for sophisticated organizations.
Responsibilities
- Own the strategic direction, performance, and execution of SEO programs for enterprise and large-scale client accounts.
- Serve as the primary SEO advisor and strategic partner for senior client stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Develop and lead comprehensive SEO strategies across technical SEO, content strategy, site architecture, and authority growth initiatives.
- Conduct advanced technical SEO audits and guide implementation efforts related to crawlability, indexation, Core Web Vitals, structured data, and overall site health.
- Lead enterprise SEO initiatives tied to website migrations, redesigns, CMS transitions, and large-scale technical implementations.
- Analyze organic search performance, keyword opportunities, competitive landscapes, and user behavior data to identify growth opportunities and inform strategy.
- Partner closely with internal teams including analytics, paid media, content, UX, and development to support integrated digital marketing initiatives.
- Present strategic recommendations, reporting insights, and performance updates to executive-level stakeholders with clarity and confidence.
- Proactively identify risks, opportunities, and emerging trends within search, including AI-driven search experiences and evolving SERP features.
- Contribute to internal SEO thought leadership, process improvement, and innovation initiatives to help evolve enterprise SEO best practices across the agency.
Requirements
Must Haves:
- 10+ years of SEO experience, preferably within an agency or enterprise consulting environment.
- Proven experience leading SEO strategy for enterprise, large-scale, or Fortune 500 brands.
- Deep understanding of technical SEO, enterprise site architecture, crawl/indexation management, and large-scale content ecosystems.
- Strong experience managing complex SEO initiatives across multiple stakeholders and departments.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute data-driven SEO strategies that drive measurable business growth.
- Expertise with SEO platforms such as SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Yext, SparkToro, Profound, or similar enterprise SEO tools.
- Strong analytical experience using Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Looker Studio, Google Tag Manager, and related reporting and conversion tracking platforms.
- Experience supporting website migrations, redesigns, and enterprise CMS implementations.
- Strong understanding of Core Web Vitals, page performance optimization, structured data, and technical SEO best practices.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with experience leading conversations with executive stakeholders.
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple complex accounts and initiatives simultaneously.
- Able to translate complex SEO concepts into actionable business recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
Nice-to-Haves
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web development frameworks.
- Familiarity with log file analysis and advanced technical SEO diagnostics.
- Understanding of AI search trends, generative search experiences, and evolving SERP features.
- Understanding of JavaScript SEO and rendering challenges within modern web frameworks.
- Experience with API-driven reporting, data visualization, or SEO automation workflows.

Salary Range
$115,000 - $130,000
