About the role
The Youth Program at headspace Early Psychosis provides a range of services to young people (12-25yrs), families, and professionals. Services are strengths-based and value-driven so that they support young people to achieve personally meaningful recovery goals and enable cultural change within the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Provide support and leadership to Youth Peer workers to ensure best practice and consistency in peer support within a recovery-oriented framework.
- Provide mentorship to the Youth Peer workers in the program and maintain group and individual peer support to the young people of headspace Early Psychosis.
Requirements
- Lived experience of psychosis or other complex mental health challenges as a young person
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Lived Experience Peer worker (or other lived experience role), knowledge of peer principles and the ability to support people from a mutual perspective by sharing lived experience
- Experience mentoring, coaching or guiding Youth Peer workers
- Understanding of the role of orientation, supervision, ongoing personal/professional development and other mechanisms that sustain motivation and enthusiasm for service participation among young people and for oneself
Qualifications
- Australian working rights and current Influenza vaccination
- Current Victorian Driver License
- Current Working with Children Check or willing to obtain one and be willing to undergo a Background Check
Skills
- Relevant training (Peer Support, group facilitation, Open Dialogue)
- Regular line management supervision
- Support from the Youth Peer team dedicated to promoting the voice of lived experience within the headspace Early Psychosis program
