Senior Weekend Custodian, Night

About the Role

As a Senior Weekend Custodian, you will work independently under limited supervision, providing custodial and specialized cleaning support to cover vacancies and supplement work crews anywhere on campus. You will respond to customer needs and requests, often relying on personal judgment and application of previous experience and knowledge of established practices and procedures. Additionally, you will respond to campus crises to enhance public safety and minimize infrastructure damage, assist with emergency calls, and help with snow and ice removal. You may also work in restricted access areas requiring highly specialized procedures, training, or certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide custodial and specialized cleaning support across campus
• Respond to customer needs and campus crises, including emergency calls
• Assist with snow and ice removal
• Work in restricted access areas requiring specialized training or certification
• Supervise and train small groups (3–10 people)
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and customers both verbally and in writing
• Perform basic mathematics and communicate via computer
• Operate power and non-powered floor care equipment
• Use personal protective equipment as required
• Lift and carry 25–50 lbs. frequently and up to 60 lbs. occasionally
• Work outdoors 10% of the time in temperatures below 32°F or above 90°F

Requirements

• 18 months of custodial experience with 3 years of total work experience
• Completion of the Building Services Custodial Development Program (or enrollment within 90 days of hire)
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Good work organization skills
• Knowledge of policies and procedures regarding building maintenance and security
• Valid US or Canadian driver’s license

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (preferred)
• One year of supervision experience (preferred)
• Knowledge of campus buildings and locations (preferred)

Pay

Starting pay: $17.50 per hour plus a $0.70 shift differential, for a total of $18.20 per hour.

Schedule

Tuesday–Saturday, 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
