SENIOR WEED ABATEMENT WORKER
About the role
The position involves leading a crew of workers, providing on-the-job training, coordinating clearing operations, inspecting properties, estimating costs, transporting tools, maintaining tools, performing abatement tasks, and communicating with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Provides direction to crew members and monitors their work.
- Maintains and operates hand and power tools and heavy equipment.
- Clears properties of weeds, brush, and rubbish.
- Monitors and evaluates work activities to ensure compliance with standards.
- Communicates with supervisors, property owners, and vendors.
- Prepares written reports detailing work performed and costs involved.
Requirements
- One year of full-time outdoor work experience in the eradication and control of weeds, brush, or other vegetation.
- One year of full-time outdoor work experience in a lead capacity over manual laborers performing eradication and control of weeds, brush, or other vegetation.
- A valid California Class C Driver's License.
Special Requirement Information
A valid California Class C Driver's License is required. Part-time experience is considered based on proration. Applicants must provide a copy of their driver's license and driving record from the California State Department of Motor and Vehicles before final appointment.
Physical Class IV - Arduous
This class involves frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, or working above ground on irregular surfaces. Positions spend no more than 50 percent of the time performing similar duties as the positions that they lead.
Examination Content
The examination consists of an Evaluation of Experience based on the application information, weighted 100%. Candidates must receive a passing score of 70% or higher to be placed on the eligible register.
