About the Role

This position resides within the Content & HPC (High Performance Computing) group as a Lead Geospatial Engineer, serving as a project lead in the development of real-time geospatial database content for simulation and training. The role requires strong GIS, 3D modeling, and visualization skills, along with the ability to communicate, delegate tasks, and provide oversight in a collaborative environment.

You will work both independently and as part of a team, including customer interactions, while assisting in the design, development, and implementation of solutions within agreed budgets and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of real-time geospatial database content for simulation and training.
  • Communicate and delegate work tasks to team members, providing oversight and guidance.
  • Design, develop, and implement solutions in a collaborative environment.
  • Execute projects through the full development lifecycle, from requirements to customer acceptance.
  • Define and execute business processes, delegate and prioritize tasks, and solve problems with multiple solutions.
  • Interact directly with customers and author white papers and technical presentations.
  • Manage projects using Cost Account Management (CAM) and Earned Value Management.
  • Ensure solutions align with organizational processes and comply with company security and data protection policies.
  • Properly mark and handle all information and materials, ensuring confidentiality and need-to-know access.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS/Earth Science, related Engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • Background in one or more of the following: Image Science, Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing/Data Fusion, Geo-Imaging/Processing, Spectral/Imagery Analysis.
  • Experience executing projects through the full development lifecycle, from requirements to customer acceptance.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Experience with Windows Office Suite, project scheduling, and workflow management tools (e.g., ClearCase, ClearQuest, Perforce, Atlassian, RTC).
  • Experience in Cost Account Management (CAM) and Earned Value Management.
  • Eligibility for DoD Personal Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Preferred Skills

  • 5+ years’ experience in project management and execution.
  • 8+ years’ experience in the acquisition and manipulation of aerial and satellite imagery, elevation data, and vector data.
  • 8+ years’ experience in Photoshop for image cleanup and color correction.
  • 8+ years’ experience in ArcGIS and the ArcGIS Toolset.
  • 8+ years’ experience creating moving and static 3D models using software such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, or Creator.
  • 5+ years’ experience in database creation for image generation systems (e.g., Aechelon, MetaVR, Vital, Quantum3D).
  • 5+ years’ experience leading team development efforts.
  • Experience with modeling tools such as Terra Vista, Creator, Maya, or 3D Studio Max.
  • Experience with Global Mapper, Erdas, or FME.

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. The position may require working in confined spaces for extended periods and sitting or standing at a desk for long durations.
