About the role
Lead strategy, planning and execution for Fund Administration, and own its financial performance against annual revenue and profitability targets.
Responsibilities
- Lead the fund accounting, treasury, loan servicing and investor services teams.
- Hire, mentor and develop staff, and manage work allocation, performance and accountability.
- Build a strong client service culture, set team goals and keep people focused on deadlines through frequent, consistent communication.
- Monitor staffing, workload and team design, and recommend and lead hiring for approved roles.
- Set department policies and establish KPIs for the business unit.
- Oversee and manage the review of quarterly and annual financial statements and investor reporting for fund administration clients and managed funds, with a focus on private credit and direct lending: set review standards and assign and supervise reviewers.
- Take on review and reporting directly when needed, including complex or high-risk funds, new structures and periods of heavy workload.
- Manage the quarterly and annual reporting cycle so all deadlines are met, addressing timing issues early and communicating clearly with clients.
- Understand each fund's structure, operating agreement and underwriting model well enough to anticipate activity and ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Advise clients on the accounting and reporting implications of new funds, fund amendments and new lending initiatives, getting involved early in fund formation.
- Manage relationships with outside audit and tax firms so annual audits and tax filings are accurate and on time.
- Ensure timely, accurate processing of distributions, fees and intercompany balances, working with corporate Finance on fee agreements and collections.
- Oversee treasury operations for client and managed funds, including cash management, disbursements, distributions and bank account administration.
- Oversee loan servicing for the funds we administer, including billing, payment processing, loan reporting and borrower communication.
- Ensure cash movement, payment and distribution procedures are defined, controlled and followed, with appropriate review and approval.
- Keep treasury, loan servicing and fund accounting closely coordinated so cash, loan balances and reporting reconcile.
- Own the Fund Administration control environment over financial reporting, treasury, loan servicing and client deliverables.
- Ensure processes comply with GAAP, IRS, NMTC and regulatory requirements, and own the underlying controls for SOC 1 readiness.
- Serve as senior relationship owner and escalation point for fund administration clients, managing expectations against contract scope, service levels and fund documents.
- Help sell fund administration services: lead technical sales conversations, scope engagements and join pitches and client presentations.
Qualifications
- Ten or more years of fund administration, fund accounting or audit experience, including significant hands-on work with private credit or direct lending funds.
