About the role
The Bank of New York Mellon seeks a Senior Vice President, Back-End Engineer to consult with internal business groups to provide high-level application software development services or technical support for backend features and components. Responsibilities include scaling the backend architecture and codebase to support growth, evaluating compliance with technology standards, and integrating software components into a fully functional system.
Responsibilities
- Program well-designed, testable, and efficient code.
- Analyze, design, and develop tests and test-automation suites.
- Develop flowcharts, layouts, and documentation to satisfy requirements and solutions.
- Maintain software functionality and address technical debt.
- Actively participate in code reviews.
- Integrate software components into a fully functional software system.
- Apply security and privacy principles.
- Work with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements.
- Analyze information and provide recommendations to address and resolve business issues.
- Guide and consult IT management and technical staff on emerging technologies.
- Participate in defining corporate implementation and integration strategies for new technologies.
- Use learning tools such as Pluralsight to complete personal development plans.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and advocate for innovative solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience in software development or a related occupation.
- Nine (9) years of experience with each of the following:
- Designing, developing, implementing, and analyzing software applications in financial or banking domains using Java/J2EE technologies and UI technologies.
- Developing, modifying, and enhancing software architecture using REST, Web Services, Cache Frameworks, and Event-Driven Frameworks.
- Utilizing JUnit to write test plans, test cases, and perform unit regression testing.
- Conducting operating problem troubleshooting using Jira and Agile methodology (Scrum).
- Optimizing application performance using Multithreading concepts and debugging tools including Eclipse, Log4j, and AppDynamics.
- The employer will accept three (3) years of university-level studies plus two (2) years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $229,250.00 - $253,000.00 per year at the commencement of employment. Base salary will be determined based on experience and market location and is part of the total compensation package.
Remote work may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite.
