Senior Veterinary Assistant

About the role

The Senior Veterinary Assistant assists Veterinarians in providing outstanding patient care and client service in a fast-paced, multi-doctor animal hospital.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinarians during initial examinations by restraining animals when necessary
• Stock examination and surgery rooms with supplies
• Sterilize tools and ensure equipment is in working order
• Perform technical skills as needed, subject to state limitations (venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia administration, anesthesia monitoring, dental prophy, radiography, administering medications, performing laboratory analysis, client education)
• Communicate with clients and update patient files

Requirements

• Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, healthy and positive communication skills, and the ability to multi-task in a hands-on environment
• Energetic people-and-pet person with excellent work ethic and social and organizational skills
• Compassionate/caring
• Willing to work flexible hours including weekends
• Prior experience working with animals in a hospital setting

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 40 lbs
