Senior UX Designer
About the role
The Senior UX Designer at Veracyte is responsible for creating intuitive, scalable, and user-centered experiences across Veracyte’s internal systems and customer-facing portals. This role partners closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations to translate complex diagnostic workflows into seamless digital experiences that drive usability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end user experiences across portal and internal workflows, ensuring consistency across multiple products and personas (providers, lab operations, internal users)
- Transform report designs from the Adobe Creative suite into responsive HTML/CSS templates for automated report generation, partnering with engineering and QA teams to support Salesforce integration, dynamic data population, rendering validation, and ongoing template optimization.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that aligned to brand guidelines using Figma
- Collaborate with Product Marketing, Customer Care and Engineering to translate complex workflows (e.g., ordering, sample tracking, billing) into intuitive interfaces within Salesforce environments
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and persona development to inform design decisions
- Define and maintain reusable design components and contribute to design systems
- Document user flows, interaction patterns, and design specifications for development and QA
- Analyze user feedback and data to continuously improve usability and experience quality
- Lead UX design efforts for complex projects and represent the UX function across project phases
- Ability to design immersive, differentiated experiences for modern UI frameworks (e.g., React), supporting both front-end and full-stack development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, UX/UI Design, Graphic Design, Human Factors Engineering, Social Sciences research, or equivalent
- A minimum of 5 years of UI/UX design experience for enterprise or customer-facing applications
- Strong proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, and Figma (or similar design tools)
- Experienced designing within Salesforce (Sales/Service Cloud, Lightning Experience)
- Proven ability to design for multiple personas and workflows across patient and provider ordering experiences, delivering intuitive portal UI/UX components that enhance the digital customer experience throughout the cancer care journey
- Strong understanding of user-centered design, interaction design, and usability principles
- Proficiency in HTML/CSS, responsive design, translating visual designs into functional code
- Experience conducting user research and translating insights into design improvements
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
- Collaboration with Corporate Digital Marketing for branding initiatives
- Incorporates UX design for Epic (primary EHR), driving improved workflows and user experience impact.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing healthcare, diagnostics, or laboratory workflows
- Familiarity with integrated ecosystems (Salesforce, EMR/Epic, lab systems)
- Experience building or contributing to design systems or component libraries
- Understanding of accessibility (WCAG) and compliance considerations
- Experience designing data-heavy or workflow-driven interfaces
- Experience working in Agile environments with Jira
Pay
For candidates based in our San Diego office, the salary range is $165,000 - $180,000.
For candidates based in our South San Francisco office, the salary range is $180,000 - $200,650.
For candidates working remote (US), the salary range is $158,000 - $178,530.
