About the role
We are seeking a motivated Senior User Experience Designer to join our Enabling Technologies team, supporting Surgical Automation and Visualization. This role will help drive the medical technology industry forward by transforming patient care and creating better patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the end-to-end user experience strategy across the MedTech portfolio.
- Create and maintain UX principles, interaction standards, and design guidelines that ensure consistency across all products.
- Serve as the organizational expert on usability, workflow optimization, and surgeon experience.
- Guide workflow and user experience decisions by collaborating with clinical users to create intuitive, efficient, and seamlessly integrated healthcare experiences.
- Conduct user interviews, contextual inquiry, observations, usability testing, workshops, and design validation activities.
- Identify friction points and opportunities to simplify complex clinical and procedural workflows.
- Ensure customer insights influence product decisions from design through product implementation.
- Design intuitive user experiences for web and augmented reality applications.
- Create wireframes, workflows, user journeys, information architecture, and high-fidelity visual designs.
- Develop interactive prototypes to validate concepts before implementation.
- Create intuitive interfaces for complex datasets, 3D visualizations, surgical planning tools, and procedural workflows.
- Design experiences that reduce cognitive load and improve efficiency in high-pressure clinical environments.
- Partner with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure user experience activities support applicable medical device requirements.
- Contribute to usability requirements, use scenarios, risk identification, and mitigation strategies.
- Support formative and summative usability testing initiatives.
- Help ensure products are intuitive, safe, and effective for intended users.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in UX design, product design, human factors engineering, or experience architecture.
- Demonstrated success designing complex software products from concept to release.
- Experience leading UX efforts across multiple products or platforms.
- Expertise in user research, workflow analysis, usability testing, and interaction design.
- Strong visual design capabilities and experience creating production-ready UI designs.
- Proficiency with Figma and other modern design and prototyping tools.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
