General Function:
As a Senior User Experience Designer, you will lead the design of intuitive, accessible, and engaging digital experiences that help make our customers’ lives easier, healthier, and happier. You will play a key role in shaping user-centered solutions across Hy-Vee.com, the Hy-Vee mobile app, and other digital platforms. This role emphasizes strong interaction design, applied research, and strategic collaboration across product, engineering, and business partners.
Senior Designers are expected to:
- Independently drive complex projects
- Influence design decisions
- Elevate UX maturity across teams
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead UX efforts on complex initiatives across the shopper journey
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Engineers, and stakeholders to define problems and shape solutions
- Advocate for user-centered design practices and articulate the value of UX to partners
- Plan, conduct, and synthesize user research using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods
- Create high-fidelity wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes
- Facilitate and contribute to design critiques, providing thoughtful and actionable feedback
- Conduct and analyze usability testing to identify and prioritize improvements
- Translate research insights and data into clear design recommendations
- Present design concepts and research findings to cross-functional audiences
- Partner with developers to ensure design intent, quality, and accessibility standards are met
- Contribute to and help evolve the Design System and UX standards
- Stay current on UX trends, best practices, and accessibility guidelines
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
- 6–9 years of related user experience design experience
Physical Requirements
- Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction.
- Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: operating a computer, occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 10 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking.
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities: meeting with customers, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
