Position Summary We are seeking a highly creative and technically skilled Senior User Experience Designer to join our Design & Experience team in our Research Triangle Park (Raleigh, NC) office. This position will play a key role in shaping the next generation of digital and connected medical device experiences by transforming user insights, clinical workflows, and business objectives into intuitive, effective, and engaging solutions. The ideal candidate is an exceptional problem solver, design strategist, and storyteller who thrives at the intersection of user needs, technology, and healthcare. Working closely with Industrial Design, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Product Management, Clinical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and Marketing teams, the Senior User Experience Designer will lead the creation of user-centered experiences that improve usability, safety, efficiency, and satisfaction for healthcare providers and patients. This role offers the opportunity to influence globally deployed medical technologies while helping redefine the future of aesthetic and dermatologic care through thoughtful, evidence-based user experience design. Duties & Responsibilities User Experience Strategy & Design Lead UX activities across multiple product development programs from concept through commercialization.Translate user needs, clinical requirements, and business objectives into intuitive and effective user experiences.Develop user journeys, workflows, information architecture, wireframes, interaction models, and high-fidelity prototypes.Create user interface designs that align with product, brand, and usability objectives.Contribute to defining and maintaining design systems, UX standards, and interaction frameworks across product platforms.Collaborate with Industrial Design teams to create seamless physical and digital experiences. User Research & Human Factors Advocate for the voice of the user throughout the product development process.Plan and conduct research activities including interviews, observations, workflow assessments, usability studies, and competitive evaluations.Analyze user behavior and clinical workflows to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.Design solutions that consider:Clinical workflow efficiencyHuman factors and usabilityPatient and practitioner safetyEnvironmental and use conditionsFunctional performanceRegulatory requirementsCompetitive products and market expectationsTranslate research findings into actionable design recommendations. Communication & Storytelling Develop compelling experience narratives that clearly communicate user needs, opportunities, and design recommendations.Create executive-level presentations that effectively convey user insights, design rationale, and strategic direction.Present work confidently to project stakeholders, leadership teams, customers, and development partners.Facilitate workshops, design reviews, and collaborative ideation sessions. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Clinical, Regulatory, Product Management, and Industrial Design teams throughout product development.Collaborate with development teams to ensure successful implementation of interaction designs and user interfaces.Participate in design verification, validation, and usability testing activities.Contribute to process improvements, best practices, and standards for user-centered design.Mentor junior UX team members and help promote a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.Other duties as needed or required. Qualifications Minimum Requirements & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (minimum four-year degree) in: UX Design, HCI, Interaction Design, Human Factors Engineering, Product Design, Graphic Design, or a closely related design discipline.7+ years of professional User Experience Design experience.Experience leading UX efforts for complex software, hardware-integrated, or connected products.Experience in medical devices, healthcare technology, consumer electronics, or other highly technical product environments.Strong portfolio demonstrating successful UX strategy, interaction design, user research, and product development work.Expert knowledge of user-centered design methodologies and processes.Strong interaction design, information architecture, and visual communication skills.Proficiency with: Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Prototyping and user testing tools.Experience utilizing AI-enabled design, research, prototyping, and development tools within the product development process.Strong understanding of design systems and scalable user interface frameworks.Ability to synthesize technical, clinical, market, and user requirements into intuitive experiences.Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.Strong presentation and storytelling abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience designing software interfaces for regulated medical devices or healthcare applications.Experience developing Android embedded applicationsExperience supporting human factors engineering and usability validation activities.Experience working closely with clinical and regulatory teams.Experience collaborating with Industrial Design teams on integrated hardware and software solutions.Familiarity with FDA human factors guidance and usability best practices. Work Location & Travel: This position is based in our Research Triangle Park (Raleigh, NC) office and requires regular in-office collaboration.Travel Requirement: Up to 20% domestic and international travel to support user research, customer visits, usability studies, product development activities, and industry events.
