Senior Underwriting Operations Governance Specialist
About the role
As the Underwriting Governance & Controls Senior Analyst in the Americas region, you will support the Governance Operations Manager by ensuring that underwriting in the region is provided with timely, accurate, and complete management information, analysis, and portfolio management. You will also ensure that underwriting activities adhere to internal and external (including regulatory) control and governance standards. The role requires managing a complex blend of global and regional priorities while driving consistency of approach and efficiencies.
Responsibilities
- Work with Americas underwriting leaders, with minimal oversight, to ensure effective governance and controls.
- Implement a sound control environment by leveraging good practices, common processes, and technology (collaborating with Global CUO’s, GIO, etc.).
- Coordinate with Americas CUO, Business Unit Heads, and 2nd and 3rd lines of defense (Risk Management, Internal Audit) to continuously improve business processes and controls (first line of defense) across all applicable products and functions.
- Assist in maintaining the first line of defense framework and processes to ensure compliance with underwriting governance and controls, focusing on individual business unit compliance with controls set by GCUO and the Americas Segment Leaders.
- Leverage common processes and technology to drive efficiency and simplicity across products and functions, and where applicable, across regions (in collaboration with Global CUO and GIO).
- Coordinate schedules for sick and vacation time for the unit; effectively manage backup staff as needed.
This role will report to the Governance Operations Manager.
Requirements
- Good understanding of Americas underwriting regulatory requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Excellent knowledge of underwriting operations.
- Project management capability.
- Extensive Underwriting, Underwriting Operations, or Audit experience preferred.

Pay
The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 109,600–182,600. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, experience, and location.
