SENIOR TRANSPORTATION SURVEYOR (CALTRANS)

About the role
Under the direction of the Supervising Transportation Surveyor, and in support of the North Region Office of Surveyors Branch Chiefs, the incumbent plans, organizes, supervises and directs the work of regional office staff assigned to a variety of surveying related tasks throughout the North Region, or as needed. Responsibilities include oversight, coordination and preparation of A&E Task Orders, coordination and verification of resources utilized for Architectural & Engineering (A&E) work, supervision of NROS Task Order Managers, oversight to A&E staff as well as providing progress reports on task deliverable status. The role involves liaison with A&E Consultant staff, Office Chief, Branch Chiefs, Last Chance Grade Phase Order Manager and Project Management. Will provide Contract administration for NROS contracts and mentoring for NROS training and rotation programs.
Possession of a valid California Land Surveyor’s License is required.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, supervise, and direct regional office staff assigned to surveying tasks.
- Oversee, coordinate, and prepare A&E Task Orders.
- Coordinate and verify resources for Architectural & Engineering (A&E) work.
- Supervise NROS Task Order Managers and provide oversight to A&E staff.
- Provide progress reports on task deliverable status.
- Serve as liaison with A&E Consultant staff, Office Chief, Branch Chiefs, Last Chance Grade Phase Order Manager, and Project Management.
- Administer contracts for NROS and mentor staff in NROS training and rotation programs.
Requirements
- Valid California Land Surveyor’s License (must provide a copy prior to hire).
- Valid driver’s license when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle.
- Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Surveyor (Caltrans) exam. Applicants without current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) or new to state civil service must be on the state examination list.
- If basing eligibility on education, unofficial transcript(s)/diploma must be provided for verification. Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must include a U.S. equivalency evaluation report.
Pay
$11,437.00 - $14,315.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
Schedule
Permanent, Full Time. Hybrid telework available.
