About the role

The Transportation Engineering Lead position at Fehr Graham is a pivotal figure within the organization, responsible for leading the strategic direction of the transportation engineering team. This role demands a visionary leader with extensive experience in transportation engineering, client engagement, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the executive team to outline and execute the firm's transportation plan, ensuring alignment with organizational values and mission.

  • Develop comprehensive strategies for advancing transportation projects and services.

  • Establish and foster strong relationships with local agencies, both existing clients and potential target clients, to understand their transportation project needs and secure new opportunities.

  • Serve as a liaison between clients, our organization, and regulatory bodies like the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to advance simple and complex transportation projects.

  • Oversee the execution of transportation projects, ensuring they meet client expectations, industry standards, and internal quality benchmarks.

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop the transportation design team.

  • Monitor project budgets, resources, and financial performance to ensure the successful and profitable completion of transportation projects.

  • Facilitate clear and effective communication between clients, project teams, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.

  • Establish a personal working relationship with key decision makers and influencers based on Fehr Graham core values.

  • Stay updated on transportation engineering technology trends and advancements.

  • Attend meetings, community, and industry events.

  • Communicate industry trends back to the team and engage in knowledge sharing.

  • Maintain client confidentiality of all project work.

  • Abide by Fehr Graham core values and work towards the mission of the company.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Extensive experience in transportation engineering.

Qualifications

Candidates should have:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
