The Transportation Engineering Lead position at Fehr Graham is a pivotal figure within the organization, responsible for the strategic leadership of the company. This role demands a visionary leader with extensive experience in transportation engineering, client engagement, and strategic planning.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the executive team to outline and execute the firm's transportation plan, ensuring alignment with organizational values and mission.
- Develop comprehensive strategies for advancing transportation projects and services.
- Establish and foster strong relationships with local agencies, both existing clients and potential target clients, to understand their transportation project needs and secure new opportunities.
- Serve as a liaison between clients, the organization, and regulatory bodies like the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to advance transportation projects.
- Oversee the execution of transportation projects, ensuring they meet client expectations, industry standards, and internal quality benchmarks.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop the transportation design team.
- Maintain financial oversight by monitoring project budgets, resources, and financial performance to ensure the successful and profitable completion of transportation projects.
- Act as the primary point of contact for transportation projects, facilitating clear and effective communication between clients, project teams, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Establish a personal working relationship with key decision makers and influencers based on Fehr Graham core values.
- Stay updated on transportation engineering technology trends and advancements.
- Attend meetings, community, and industry events.
- Follow/research industry trends and communicate back to the team/knowledge sharing.
- Maintain client confidentiality of all project work.
- Abide by Fehr Graham core values and work towards the mission of Fehr Graham.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering.
- Proven track record of leading and managing transportation projects successfully.
- Strong client engagement and relationship building skills.
- Experience with regulatory bodies and ability to navigate complex projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Knowledge of transportation engineering technology trends and advancements.
