Senior Transportation Planner

About the role

The Senior Transportation Planner will play a key role in the planning and development of transportation infrastructure within the Town of Arlington. This position requires a deep understanding of transportation systems and policies, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement transportation plans that align with the town’s goals and objectives.
• Conduct research and analysis on transportation trends and issues affecting the town.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other planners to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Prepare and present reports and recommendations to the Planning Board and other stakeholders.
• Manage and maintain the town’s transportation data and GIS mapping tools.

Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in transportation planning.
• Knowledge of transportation planning principles, including traffic engineering, public transit, and bicycle/pedestrian facilities.
• Experience working with local government agencies and community groups.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in GIS software and transportation modeling tools.
• Experience with project management and budgeting.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
