About the role
The Senior Transportation Planner will play a key role in the planning and development of transportation infrastructure within the Town of Arlington. This position requires a deep understanding of transportation systems and policies, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement transportation plans that align with the town’s goals and objectives.
- Conduct research and analysis on transportation trends and issues affecting the town.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other planners to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Prepare and present reports and recommendations to the Planning Board and other stakeholders.
- Manage and maintain the town’s transportation data and GIS mapping tools.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in transportation planning.
- Knowledge of transportation planning principles, including traffic engineering, public transit, and bicycle/pedestrian facilities.
- Experience working with local government agencies and community groups.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in GIS software and transportation modeling tools.
- Experience with project management and budgeting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of transportation planning and policy.
