About the role
The Senior Transportation Planner will join the Planning Team in Arlington, Massachusetts. Arlington is a suburban community with approximately 47,000 residents, known for its residential neighborhoods, strong public schools, and accessibility to public transportation and the Minuteman Bikeway.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement transportation plans that align with the town’s long-term vision
- Conduct traffic studies and analyze data to inform transportation policy decisions
- Collaborate with stakeholders including residents, businesses, and other municipal departments to gather input and feedback
- Prepare and present reports and recommendations to the Planning Board and other decision-making bodies
- Ensure compliance with state and federal transportation regulations and guidelines
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, or a related field
- At least 5 years of professional experience in transportation planning
- Knowledge of transportation planning principles, policies, and best practices
- Experience working with local government agencies and community organizations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Proficiency in GIS software and transportation modeling tools
- Experience with project management and budgeting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Skills

- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
