About the role
Projects will primarily be located throughout the State of Louisiana. There is opportunity to work with Waggoner’s other 18 offices located throughout the Gulf Coast states. Occasional travel to project sites and/or other Waggoner offices can be expected. This is not a field office position.
Responsibilities
- Performs engineering analysis and design (2D and 3D) for roadways, intersections, and related infrastructure, including new construction and rehabilitation.
- Understands and applies principles of roadway engineering in accordance with LaDOTD and local municipality design guidelines.
- Understands and applies principles of traffic signalization to design of roadway and intersection improvements.
- Performs analysis and design of stormwater management facilities for roadway drainage.
- Prepares construction plans, specifications, and contract documents for contracting and bidding of construction projects.
- Performs construction phase engineering, including periodic on-site reviews, in collaboration with Construction Services team.
- Maintains and documents written and verbal communications with clients throughout the development and completion of a project.
- Conducts project status review with project manager and team members, checking accuracy of work completed, and monitors timeliness of project completion.
- Prepares engineering studies and reports.
- Provides technical guidance and training to members of the project team.
- Prepares project design using sound engineering principles, engineering software and tools.
- Affirms quality control procedures are performed.
Requirements
- Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required. Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Louisiana, or PE in other states with the ability to be licensed in Louisiana.
- Required Experience: A minimum of 8 years of roadway and related design and management experience as a licensed professional engineer in responsible charge is required. Project design and plan delivery experience for LA DOTD projects is required. Similar experience with local municipalities or other Gulf Coast state DOTs will be considered. Project management and staff/resource management experience is required. Knowledge and practical application of roadway engineering technical resources such as AASHTO Green Book, Roadway Design Guide, MUTCD, and LA DOTD design manuals and EDSMs are required. Design experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation are required. Experience with OpenRoads or Inroads software is a plus.
- Knowledge and Skills: Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. Experience with ProjectWise and Deltek software packages a plus. Superior communication skills and in-depth knowledge of company products and operations.
