Senior Transmission Line Design Engineer
About the role
This Opportunity WSP is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Design Engineer to support major utility and energy clients. You will lead transmission line design efforts and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, constructible solutions.
Responsibilities
- Provide transmission line design and engineering consulting services to major power and energy utility clients, independent power producers, and energy project developers.
- Design of electrical transmission facilities including line layout, foundations, structure configuration, structures, insulation and conductor specification.
- Preparation of project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation.
- Delivery of accurate and thorough substations and control houses designs that will meet industry standards and specifications and meet good engineering practice with excellent constructability.
- Review of internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice and constructability.
- Making and maintaining appropriate commitments to project teams and coordinating design activities with multi-disciplined project team members.
- Maintaining good working relationships with internal groups that support projects.
- Maintaining good working relationships with material suppliers, contractors, and any others that affect the quality, schedule and cost of projects.
- Collect, compile, and analyze data relating to substation components, equipment specifications for procurement package development and pricing, IFR/IRC design and review processes, and IEEE/NESC Standards/NERC regulations for design work.
- Participate in incorporating future-ready techniques, concept development, operating strategies, and various design requirements with equipment sizing and cabling, AC/DC panel design, and conduit and trenching design strategies that account for the safety and functionality of end-users, systems, and infrastructure.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in transmission line design within utility or power delivery environments
- Relevant experience in transmission line design and a working knowledge of PLSCadd
- Engineering degree (Civil, Electrical, or related)
- EIT required / PE eligibility strongly preferred

- Master’s Degree in Engineering

Pay
Expected Salary (all locations): $94,300 – $155,000
Schedule
This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
