About the role

One of our clients is seeking a highly experienced Senior Traffic & Transportation Planner / Engineer to lead long-range transportation planning and corridor planning initiatives throughout Texas. This is a senior-level position requiring extensive experience working with TXDOT and other Texas transportation and tolling agencies on major highway, roadway, and transportation planning projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead long-range transportation planning and corridor planning studies.
  • Manage highway and roadway transportation planning projects from inception through completion.
  • Coordinate with TXDOT, regional mobility authorities, tolling agencies, MPOs, counties, and municipalities.
  • Prepare and review transportation planning studies, feasibility studies, corridor analyses, and technical reports.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and planning teams.
  • Support business development efforts, client meetings, and proposal preparation.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure quality project delivery.
  • Present technical recommendations to public agencies and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas (Required).
  • Minimum 15 years of hands-on experience in:
    • Highway transportation planning
    • Roadway planning
    • Long-range transportation corridor planning
  • Extensive experience working with TXDOT and other Texas transportation and tolling agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation planning principles, corridor development, and agency coordination.
  • Excellent communication, client management, and project leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • TXDOT Precertifications: Experience with one or more of the following categories is highly preferred:
    • Category 1 - Planning
    • Category 3.2.1
    • Category 3.7.1
    • Category 4.7.1
    • Category 7 - Traffic Studies
    • Category 8 - Traffic Operations
    • Category 23.4.4 - Traffic Projections
  • Experience with:
    • Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs)
    • Regional mobility and toll road authorities
    • Transportation corridor studies
    • Highway capacity and traffic forecasting
    • Traffic operations and planning studies
    • Transportation master planning
    • Public infrastructure and roadway improvement projects
