Senior Traffic Engineer - Design

Responsibilities

  • Develop, analyze and evaluate traffic improvements including traffic signals and roundabouts
  • Develop traffic and transportation planning, safety, and engineering solutions for multimodal transportation projects
  • Conduct safety engineering analysis, including design and operational focused analysis
  • Design traffic control devices
  • Design work zone traffic control
  • Develop intersection design
  • Use guidance within the MUTCD to prepare and oversee traffic signal warrant analyses
  • Attend and lead meetings with transportation agencies and private developers
  • Prepare and participate in presentations to the client team
  • Prepare and review technical memoranda and reports
  • Mentor junior team members

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of professional transportation/traffic design engineering experience required, depending on level of education
  • Proficiency in Synchro required
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD required
  • Vissim modeling capabilities a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required
  • Master’s degree a plus (master’s degree may substitute for 1 year of experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • POTOE (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer) certification a plus

Qualifications

  • The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
  • Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Springfield, MA is $100,000 to $125,000.
