Senior Traffic Engineer

About the role

BETA stands at the forefront of technological strides in traffic engineering and is actively seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer for its Norwood, MA office. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for innovation and problem-solving, with a particular focus on signal and signal system design.

Responsibilities

• Perform, manage, and oversee design on traffic and transportation projects
• Perform detailed traffic analysis, traffic signal design, traffic modeling and simulation, intersection geometrics, complete streets, and temporary traffic controls
• Manage traffic related projects
• Technical design lead on concurrent projects
• Review and prepare traffic related contract documents
• Provide responsive client service through strong and expeditious communication
• Mentor junior staff to enhance their knowledge and advance their career development
• Attend and present at client and public meetings
• Perform business development and manage project pursuits
• Collaborate across internal disciplines and office locations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
• 10+ years of related engineering experience in traffic and transportation projects
• Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Demonstrated strong background in traffic and transportation engineering
• Proficiency in Synchro/SimTraffic
• Experience working with AutoCAD Civil3D and Microstation OpenRoads
• Knowledge of MUTCD, AASHTO and RIDOT/MASSDOT/CTDOT design policy guidelines and requirements
• Proficiency with traffic analysis and modeling
• Proficiency with traffic signal design
• Ability to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspections
• Ability to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
• Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Experience/Skills

• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)
• IMSA Traffic Inspection Certification
• Vissim experience
