About the role
The Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) is a critical role in executing Bristol Myers Squibb’s aspiration to deliver impactful engagement with Health Care Providers (HCPs), driving adoption of new and existing medicines for appropriate patients. The TAS builds and maintains strong professional credibility with regional thought leaders (RTLs) and community-based physicians/HCPs, serving as their primary point of contact. This field-based role prioritizes the safe and appropriate use of BMS products while focusing on business results and performance objectives, exemplifying BMS values. The TAS is anticipated to spend 100% of their time in the field with external customers.
Responsibilities
- Portfolio Promotion
- Promotes approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory or region to meet or exceed assigned sales targets in a compliant manner.
- Creates demand for BMS medicines by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for use in appropriate patients.
- Engages with and maintains a high level of scientific expertise in all assigned products and therapeutic areas.
- Prepares and implements comprehensive territory and account plans.
- Proactively uses tools such as CE3 to derive insights and dynamically inform call plans.
- Provides feedback on tool usage to leadership for continuous improvement.
- Fair & Balanced Scientific Dialogue
- Demonstrates scientific expertise and passion using approved resources to present information to HCPs, ensuring medical accuracy.
- Conducts in-office presentations (e.g., lunch and learns) and discusses product-related scientific information consistent with label.
- Organizes external speaker programs, selecting speakers from the approved Speakers Bureau and facilitating scheduling and logistics.
- Maintains expertise on emerging data for approved indications.
- Engages real-time medical support through Medical on Call to answer unsolicited questions and complex technical inquiries.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Proactively collaborates with other field teams to ensure the best Customer Experience (Cx) for HCPs.
- Gathers and shares relevant insights internally with appropriate stakeholders.
- Complies with all laws, regulations, and policies governing BMS conduct.
Requirements
- Advanced scientific degree and/or preferred 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nursing roles.
- Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to help physicians serve their patients.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining credibility with key customers, office staff, and others in the customer influence network.
- Experience in Neurology preferred.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals with strong account management and selling competencies.

As this position requires operating a Company-provided vehicle, offers of employment are contingent upon meeting the requirements of a "Qualified Driver," including being at least 21 years of age, holding a driver’s license in good standing, and having an acceptable driving risk level as determined by the Company.
Pay
Field - United States - US: $139,230 - $168,714 (starting compensation range for a full-time employee). Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available based on eligibility. The starting pay rate accounts for job characteristics such as required skills, location, schedule, experience, and job-related knowledge. Final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience.
