The Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) is a critical role in executing BMS’s aspiration to deliver impactful engagement with Health Care Providers (HCPs), driving adoption of new and existing medicines for appropriate patients. The TAS builds and maintains strong professional credibility with regional thought leaders and community-based physicians, serving as their primary point of contact. This field-based role requires 100% time spent engaging external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Promote approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory to meet or exceed assigned sales targets in a compliant manner.
  • Create demand for BMS medicines by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for use in appropriate patients.
  • Maintain and grow scientific expertise in assigned products and therapeutic areas.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive territory and account plans.
  • Use tools such as CE³ to derive insights and dynamically inform call plans, providing feedback to leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct fair and balanced scientific dialogue with HCPs, including in-office presentations (e.g., lunch and learns) consistent with product labeling.
  • Organize external speaker programs, selecting approved speakers and facilitating logistics.
  • Maintain expertise on emerging data for approved indications and engage Medical on Call for complex inquiries.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance the Customer Experience (Cx) for HCPs.
  • Gather and share relevant insights internally to better serve customers.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations, and BMS policies governing conduct.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (advanced scientific degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nursing roles.
  • Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly.
  • Experience building credibility with key customers, office staff, and stakeholders through a customer-centric mindset.
  • Proven track record in account management, selling competencies, and meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with a positive team mindset.
  • Digital agility, including proficiency with CRM tools, CE³, Medical on Call, and digital communication channels.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing, at least 21 years of age, and acceptable driving risk level (role requires operation of a company-provided vehicle).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Cardiovascular therapeutic area.
  • Customer/commercial mindset with demonstrated ability to drive business results.
  • Understanding of the patient journey and ability to tailor engagement accordingly.
  • Scientific agility, including strong communication skills to articulate clinical data and a passion for staying current with scientific advancements.
  • Analytical capability to interpret prescribing patterns, market trends, and HCP preferences, and use data-driven insights for strategic planning.

Pay

Starting compensation range for this full-time role in the U.S. is $124,090 - $150,370. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available based on eligibility. Final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience.
