About the Role

This position leads a team in developing best practices and setting operational standards for enterprise technology solutions. The role involves planning, designing, and implementing complex solutions, communicating technology strategies across technical and executive audiences, and driving strategic initiatives such as SQL Server and Windows upgrade-in-place projects, improving SQL Server patching reliability, and enhancing troubleshooting capabilities for SQL Server performance issues.

Responsibilities include coaching and mentoring team members, directing team activities, and ensuring adherence to defined practices and policies to achieve results.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in defect, incident, problem, and change review meetings, as well as release activities, to develop reliable and repeatable solutions for technology issues.
  • Manage the stability, resiliency, reliability, and performance of a wide array of supported systems.
  • Serve as the point of escalation for team members, peers, and partner teams, and act as the leadership Point of Contact for triaging high-priority incidents or consulting engagements.
  • Mentor staff, provide technical leadership across the organization, and participate in resource interviews and onboarding processes.
  • Direct teams to establish alerts, monitoring, dashboards, and processes for new projects and initiatives.
  • Perform access reviews, conduct compliance activities, and serve as a delegate for administrative processes.
  • Support change implementations and proactively identify potential issues resulting from changes.

The role initially focuses on SQL Server database technology with potential expansion into MongoDB, TigerGraph, SingleStore, and Cassandra.

Requirements

  • 5 years of relevant job experience.
  • Strong experience managing and supporting large-scale, enterprise-wide SQL Server environments in complex, high-availability production settings.
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, including administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Proven expertise in SQL Server performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing strategies, resource management, and database health monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of database security best practices, including access controls, encryption, vulnerability management, auditing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available database solutions that support critical business operations.

Qualifications

  • Financial industry experience (required).
  • Knowledge of Linux-based databases such as MongoDB, TigerGraph, SingleStore, or Cassandra (desired).
  • Proficiency in PowerShell or Python programming (desired).
