Senior Technology Services Lead
About the role
This position leads a team to develop best practices and set operational standards for enterprise database technology. Key responsibilities include planning, designing, and implementing complex solutions, applying deep technical knowledge, and communicating technology solutions across technical, managerial, business, and executive audiences.
The role will initially focus on SQL Server database technology with potential expansion into MongoDB, TigerGraph, SingleStore, and Cassandra. Strategic responsibilities include leading a SQL Server and Windows upgrade-in-place project, improving SQL Server patching speed and reliability, and enhancing capabilities to troubleshoot SQL Server performance problems quickly.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in defect, incident, problem, and change review meetings and release activities; develop reliable and repeatable solutions to technology issues.
- Manage the stability, resiliency, reliability, and performance of a wide array of supported systems.
- Serve as the point of escalation for team members, peers, and partner teams; act as the leadership Point of Contact for triage of high-priority incidents or consulting engagements.
- Mentor staff, provide technical leadership across the organization, and participate in resource interview and onboarding processes.
- Direct appropriate teams to establish alerts, monitoring, dashboards, and processes for new projects and initiatives.
- Perform access reviews, conduct compliance activities, and serve as a delegate for administrative processes.
- Support change implementations and proactively identify potential issues resulting from changes.
Requirements
- 5 years of job-related experience.
- Strong experience managing and supporting large-scale, enterprise-wide SQL Server environments in complex, high-availability production settings.
- Deep understanding of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, including administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Proven expertise in SQL Server performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing strategies, resource management, and database health monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of database security best practices, including access controls, encryption, vulnerability management, auditing, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available database solutions that support critical business operations.
Qualifications
- Financial industry experience (desired).
- Knowledge of Linux-based databases such as MongoDB, TigerGraph, SingleStore, or Cassandra (desired).
- Powershell or Python programming knowledge (desired).
