Senior Technologist Laboratory - Microbiology -Part Time - Evenings

About the role
As a Lead Laboratory Technologist at NewYork-Presbyterian, you will oversee the daily operations of the Microbiology section of the laboratory. This includes maintaining a daily schedule of personnel to ensure all sections of the laboratory are adequately staffed for specimen volume. You will oversee and participate in technical operations, including QA/QC checks, system maintenance, accuracy of test results, and general sample troubleshooting.
You will also oversee laboratory staff in performing qualitative and quantitative test procedures, act as a reference source for technologists in correlating test data, and implement solutions to problems in processing and delivering highly accurate patient data. Additionally, you will participate in QA/QC concerns related to result data delivery and patient care, assist in the orientation and training of staff, and serve as the contact person for calls from nursing units and physicians regarding testing procedures and results.
Schedule
This is a part-time, weekend position with evening shifts. The schedule alternates between 3 shifts one week and 2 shifts the next. Shift times are negotiable: 2 PM - 10 PM or 3 PM - 11 PM.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related science
- New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education Department
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a technologist, or 2 years of experience with a Master’s degree
- Knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures
- Strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- ASCP certification
- Master's degree in Medical Technology or related science
- Laboratory supervisory experience
- Experience with laboratory regulations and/or CAP inspections

Pay
Salary range: $53.15 - $66.65 per hour.
