Senior Lab Tech - Microbiology
About the role
Ecolab is seeking a Senior Lab Technician to join our team in Naperville, IL. As a Senior Lab Technician, you’ll support a critical role in Legionella laboratory operations.
Responsibilities
- Follow all safety procedures and risk assessments.
- Safely handle known and unknown biological materials up to Biosafety Level 2.
- Perform a variety of routine lab operations including culture-based testing of water samples according to ISO 11731 international standards for detection of Legionella.
- File management of laboratory documents, records, and reports.
- Record and analyze testing results consistently and accurately in Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Train new members of the team in lab techniques after gaining expertise in those areas.
- Maintain equipment in operating condition and order supplies and services as needed.
- Prepare and stock supplies for daily lab work.
- Routine laboratory cleaning.
Requirements
- Associate degree with relevant coursework (e.g. college coursework in science, technology, engineering or mathematics) may substitute for experience.
- 1+ year of laboratory technician or related experience.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biology or Microbiology.
- Proficiency and expertise in utilizing, calibrating, and maintaining technical laboratory equipment.
- Experience with statistical methods for data analysis and trending.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, including excellent oral and technical writing capabilities.
- Experience multi-tasking and managing numerous projects simultaneously.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and complete tasks independently.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of and practice in aseptic technique.
- Track record of safe work practices.
- Flexibility to work overtime.

Pay
Annual Or Hourly Compensation Range: Starting on Day 1, the starting pay rate for this role is $27.00 per hour. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.
