Senior Technical Writer I

Responsibilities

• Create clear and concise original technical content
• Frequently take highly abstract concepts and ground them in relatable language
• Review content changes submitted by the writing team, as well as external authors, with an emphasis on technical accuracy, leaning on subject matter experts as needed
• Oversee the writing team’s ticketing workflow, ensuring product changes are properly reviewed and follow-up tasks are created
• Take lead roles on projects of moderate complexity
• Independently balance writing team tasks with cross-divisional initiatives
• Oversee content organization, advise other writers on strategies and approaches for document presentation
• Collect audience feedback on our documentation to update existing content and develop new content ideas
• Coach new team members on writing best practices
• Manage and administer written content delivery platforms, such as version control systems
• Work with management to develop and enforce department policies and standards
• Perform any other duties as assigned by documentation leadership

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English with a technical writing emphasis, or Computer Science degree/equivalent certificate highly preferred
• 4+ years of experience in a technical writer position
• Experience with written content editing software: Word, Confluence, Framemaker, etc.
• Experience with Markdown, or similar markup languages
• Familiarity with a coding language (Python, Java, C++, etc.)
• Familiarity with Git
• Familiarity with CSS
• Positive interpersonal communication skills
