Senior Technical Writer (Contract)

Hanwha Qcells USA Corp (Qcells USA), headquartered in Irvine, CA, specializes in providing utility-scale modules, solar photovoltaic (PV), and battery energy storage systems (BESS) project development, along with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services for solar and BESS projects nationwide. Qcells USA delivers comprehensive turnkey solutions encompassing the entire utility-scale project lifecycle. This Sr. Technical Writer position ensures that complex engineering, construction, and operational information is organized into accessible content for internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
This is a contract role located in Houston, TX with a hybrid work arrangement. The duration is approximately 6 months, with working hours Monday through Friday, either 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or 9:00 am to 6:00 pm local time. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; sponsorship is not available at this time.
Responsibilities
- Author, review, edit, and maintain high-quality technical documentation for EPC projects, including Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions, ensuring consistency and clarity.
- Maintain consistency in style, terminology, formatting, and document structure across all project deliverables.
- Support audits and compliance activities by preparing, organizing, and updating required technical documents.
- Work directly with engineering, project, construction, quality, proposal, and procurement management teams to gather technical information and ensure complex concepts and processes are accurately documented.
- Manage version control, coordinate multidisciplinary review, and oversee updates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Utilize document management systems and authoring tools (MS Office, Adobe, SharePoint) to track, store, and publish documentation.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation processes, templates, and standards within the organization.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and operational excellence across teams.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related technical field.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in EPC or EPC Renewable projects.
- Experience translating complex technical information into concise and applicable documentation for production teams.
- Advanced writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to technical accuracy and clarity.
- Familiarity with documentation standards, regulatory compliance, and multidisciplinary project coordination.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to navigate complex, matrixed organizations and influence at multiple levels.
Physical Demands

- Noise level ranges from low to moderate (office setting) or moderate to high (construction worksite).
- Under the Office Mobilization Plan (OMP) policy, the role may transition to an onsite or hybrid arrangement as determined by business needs.
