Senior Technical Writer

About the role

The Spectro Cloud Documentation & Education team is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to join our experienced team. This role focuses on creating user-friendly content that meets our customers' needs and concerns. Key responsibilities include:

• Create clear, in-depth how-to guides and feature documentation
• Conduct hands-on testing and experimentation
• Collaborate with product managers, developers, engineers, QA, and UX
• Write technical blogs and release notes
• Mentor and support junior or mid-level technical writers
• Refactor and enhance documentation information architecture
• Take ownership of high-impact documentation projects

Responsibilities

As a Technical Writer, you will:

• Work closely with developers, engineers, and other technical staff
• Understand and document the technology and software we build at Spectro Cloud
• Create reference materials, diagrams, and how-tos
• Provide the best user experience with Palette, our Kubernetes management platform
• Author technical blogs, release notes, and long-form content
• Champion user-first documentation practices
• Define and maintain content standards, templates, and voice/tone guidelines
• Advocate for accessible, inclusive, and task-oriented content
• Take ownership of high-impact documentation projects

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a technical writer
• Experience in analyzing information architecture and restructuring content
• Experience with Docs-as-Code processes
• Comfortable coaching and mentoring other technical writers
• Comfortable writing in Markdown
• Experience using developer tools like git, CLIs, Docker, and GitHub
• Familiarity with containers and Kubernetes
• Experience with infrastructure providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, VMware)
• Comfortable creating diagrams and visual resources
• A passion for learning and exploring new technologies
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to dive into technical features independently

Qualifications

• Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS cloud certifications)
• Experience with AI tools and workflows

On Target Earnings

$140,000 - $156,000 + Equity
