Senior Technical Writer

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated technical writer to support the Kratos SRE, Inc., at our site near Crane, Indiana. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions is an industry-leading provider of advanced defense, security, and technology solutions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Document development and maintenance
• Collaboration and communication
• Support document coordination including scheduling, tracking feedback, and version control
• Travel: Up to 10% (support to NSWC Crane, industry teammates, and program reviews)
• Quality assurance: Edit and proofread program-specific documents for clarity, consistency, grammar, and technical accuracy
• Technical skills and professional attributes

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Education Required
• Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, technical writing, or a related discipline; equivalent experience considered
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering plus a degree in English, journalism, or technical writing, or certification in technical writing.
• Experience and Clearance
• US citizenship required
• Active Department of War (DoW) Secret clearance (or ability to obtain)
• 5-10 years of experience in technical writing or proposal writing
• Familiarity with MIL-STD documentation standards and DoW technical publication practices
