Senior Technical Specialist-"Distributed/Renewable Energy"
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Technical Specialist to join our Building, Energy and Infrastructure (BEI) Group within our Distributed Energy Resources (DER) team. In this strategic role, you will provide leadership in technical and design services for renewable DER projects, ranging from large-scale commercial to utility-scale. You will collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary cross-engineering team, including mechanical, structural, survey, and civil disciplines.
This position serves as a technical expert and lead for distributed energy resource (DER) projects connecting at both distribution and transmission levels for utility-scale projects up to 1000 MW-ac / 2000 MWh-dc. These projects will encompass both solar PV and BESS (battery energy storage systems). Commercial and Industrial (C&I) projects will include both behind-the-meter and front-of-the-meter applications, varying in size from 100 kW-ac to 10 MW-ac. You will oversee designs and drawings, including steady-state and dynamic power analyses, and collaborate with the full team to ensure civil, survey, structural, mechanical, and electrical/MV designs and studies are addressed.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in electrical power systems
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering
- Experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit software
- Experience with steady-state and dynamic power analyses (ETAP and potentially OpenDSS, PSCAD, and PSS/E)
- Strong communication skills and ability to ask questions when necessary
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively on a project team
- Flexibility to accommodate varying project demands while maintaining high precision and accuracy
- High technical ability with an interest in staying current in the field
- Self-starter with good communication skills
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Experience with NEC, NESC, and IEEE codes and standards
- Experience with MV and substation interconnection/protection
- PE Licensure in GA, NC, or PA
- NABCEP certification
