Senior Technical Application Consultant
Join HARTING, a leader in connectivity products and custom solutions. We are seeking a Senior Technical Application Consultant (Hybrid; based in Elgin, Illinois) to join our growing team as an embedded, customer-facing technical expert dedicated to supporting a strategic hyperscale data center account.
About the role
This role provides rapid-response application engineering support, drives design collaboration, and serves as the primary technical interface between the customer and internal product and engineering teams. The Senior Technical Application Consultant operates as a solutions-oriented partner, contributing to system-level design concepts, accelerating issue resolution, and enabling design wins at scale.
HARTING aims to be a trusted advisor to customers and positions itself as the go-to expert for industrial connectivity solutions, partnering directly with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Distribution partners for standard product, designed-in value-added products, and Product Development initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact and respond rapidly to engineering needs.
- Triage technical issues and drive resolution across internal teams.
- Support new product designs, integration, and system-level architecture discussions.
- Partner with account teams to secure design wins and support qualification builds.
- Translate customer requirements and field insights into actionable feedback.
- Align customer timelines with internal engineering and program management.
- Maintain technical documentation and deliver training.
- Other duties as assigned.
Travel: 30-40%, including periodic international travel (valid passport required).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in application engineering, field engineering, or product development.
- Ability to move beyond product selection into solution conceptualization.
- Skilled at building strong relationships with engineering teams.
- Experience with providing early design guidance and concept development.

Pay
HARTING's Total Compensation Structure includes a Base Salary and a 5% discretionary annual bonus.
