About the role
The select candidate will be responsible for tax return preparation, data analytics, and process documentation surrounding indirect tax compliance and audits on a global basis.
Responsibilities
- Research and apply tax statutes and regulations to ensure compliance
- Review taxability of the products and services
- Independently research and resolve indirect tax questions from internal departments as well as external tax jurisdictions
- Support tax compliance (federal, state, and/or international) including motor fuel excise, property, sales & use, and value added tax
- Perform GL reconciliations
- Support tax setups in tax determination engine
- Assist with cross-functional tax department projects and work closely with accounting contacts
Requirements
- Proficiency with one or more accounting systems, including the ability to assimilate new software applications easily
- Advanced-level Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary in order to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Ability to collaborate with team members
- Ability to effectively manage and execute multiple tasks, projects, and priorities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service
- Ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate, and resolve discrepancies
- Proven analytical problem solver
- Audit management experience
- Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in corporate accounting or a tax department
- 5+ years' experience in Finance, Accounting, and/or Tax Accounting
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities
