About the Opportunity

Our client is a stable, family-owned, global manufacturing organization with approximately $200M in revenue and operations spanning more than 20 countries. This is a newly created Senior Tax Manager opportunity designed to bring ownership and structure to the organization's global tax function. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will have significant visibility across the organization and the opportunity to build, improve, and modernize tax processes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all global income tax compliance activities, including U.S. federal, state, and international corporate income tax filings
  • Lead income tax accounting and reporting under U.S. GAAP
  • Prepare and review annual income tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and financial statement disclosures
  • Develop and execute tax strategies designed to optimize the company's effective tax rate
  • Serve as the primary tax liaison with external tax consultants and auditors
  • Establish and maintain strong tax controls, processes, and documentation
  • Stay current on domestic and international tax law changes and assess their impact on the organization
  • Oversee global tax structures and cross-border transactions
  • Manage transfer pricing policies, documentation, and compliance
  • Monitor uncertain tax positions and other international tax considerations
  • Provide tax leadership for M&A and other strategic initiatives
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and local service providers
  • Lead income tax audits and inquiries from taxing authorities
  • Partner with Finance and Operations regarding intercompany pricing and tax matters
  • Identify and implement process improvements and technology enhancements within the tax function

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive corporate tax experience
  • Strong experience with international taxation and income tax reporting
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP income tax accounting
  • Experience within a multinational organization
  • CPA, JD, MBA, or Master's in Taxation preferred but not required
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams or working with external tax providers
  • Strong analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Ability to independently own the tax function from A-Z

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is easygoing, hands-on, and highly capable, with the confidence to own the tax function while partnering closely with the CFO and broader leadership team. This is a great opportunity for someone coming from a Senior Tax Manager/Tax Manager role, or a strong public accounting professional ready to make the move into industry. The organization is open to a strong Supervisor-level candidate who has the technical depth and maturity to step into a broader role. What matters most is someone who can own the process, improve what exists, and get into the details when needed.

Benefits

  • Global exposure across 20+ countries
  • Newly created position with significant ownership
  • Direct partnership with the CFO
  • Opportunity to modernize and improve the tax function
  • Flexible, easygoing environment
  • Strong opportunity to make an immediate impact
  • Very reasonable work schedule with little to no overtime
  • Opportunity to truly own the function rather than inherit a highly bureaucratic environment
