Senior Tax & Accounting Generalist - CPA Firm (New York)

About the role

A boutique Certified Public Accounting firm in New York with over 100 years of history is seeking an experienced Senior Tax & Accounting Generalist to join their team. This is a key role within an established firm offering a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tax returns and support tax-related client needs.
• Perform general accounting functions, including bookkeeping and payroll.
• Respond to tax notices and assist with client inquiries.
• Manage multiple client engagements while maintaining high-quality service.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication.
• Conduct research and resolve tax and accounting issues independently.
• Take ownership of assigned accounts and ensure timely, accurate deliverables.
• Provide visibility and updates regarding client accounts and project status.
• Assist with general accounting, advisory, and client service projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to firm growth.

Requirements

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required.
• A minimum of 5 years of tax and accounting experience.
• Strong expertise in tax preparation, accounting, and bookkeeping.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience building and managing client relationships.
• Strong problem-solving skills, accountability, and ownership mindset.
